Original vintage oil on canvas painting by an unidentified artist, French school. An atmospheric landscape where the colour blue reigns supreme. The houses with their distinct roofs, the sky, and the water, are all dominated by the same hues of royal blue. Buildings are sketched in charcoal coloured paint, which the artist also used to render the clouds. White provides the only hiatus in a world enveloped in blue - note the upper limits of the sky, as well as the outer walls of the houses. A boat appears to interrupt the view of the island in the bottom right corner, but it, like the rest of the scenery, appears to take on the same colour.

In coppery gold frame and in good condition.
