Original vintage Swedish oil on canvas by Gustaf SVENSSON. Dated 1937, this is the portrait of a 5-year old boy. Brown-haired and brown-eyed, and wearing a blue shirt, the subject gazes straight at the viewer. We can see the artist’s brushstrokes, whose intention it was perhaps that the audience could easily follow his work. The play of light on the boy’s perfectly shaped face and in his eyes brings forth a sense of innocence, even though the colors used and the pose are more mature in quality.
